It’s easy to say that there is a lot of love at any wedding, but for Angie and Bill, that statement can’t be more true. I felt SO much love and closeness — between the couple, the families, friends, and all guests. That close-knit feeling and loving atmosphere was really something special. I think I am already missing the West Virginia hospitality!
It was also great fun second-shooting for Michelle Waters. I was utterly amazed at how she stayed refreshed and energized enough to make the two hour drive home even after a twelve hour wedding! She’s sensational as usual, and her enthusiasm rubs off on everyone she meets.
We started the day early to take some getting ready shots:

All ready!

Bill had to do his part too:

This cute angel kept popping up in front of my lens — she loved to have her pictures taken, and I was too happy to oblige:

The ceremony was held in the cozy St. John University Parish on the West Virginia University campus where Angie and Bill first met:

This shot really speaks to me, I just love it:

Everyone looked pretty and glowy:

And they had fun!

I love this kind of picture! =) So much fun spirit!

Of course, they were equally great at showing their romantic selves!

The reception was held at the Waterfront Place Hotel where most of the wedding guests stayed, and that allowed them to party to their hearts content. (We heard later that the hotel ran out of liquor that night. =p )

Yummy cake and snacks:

It’s pretty neat to dress up the dance floor with a monogram gobo projection:

And how about sparklers for the grand exit? I absolutely loved the experience!

Thank again Michelle, Angie, and Bill for allowing me to take part in this beautiful day! =)

Things have been crazy busy lately. On top of tightened deadlines at work (for both Henry and me), Isabella’s health condition seems to have taken a major setback (we suspect her Endometriosis has recurred/progressed, but nothing is for sure yet as we wait for more doctors’ opinions and more tests to rule out other potential issues). Meanwhile, we are also busy helping our parents prepare their house for sale.
As always, I have accumulated a ton of new pictures since the last time we blogged. =) It’s now my goal to keep on blogging regularly no matter how busy things get in the future.
First, let me catch up with everyone on what’s happening lately, photography-wise:
The first week of July I flew to West Virginia to second shoot a wedding for the lovely Michelle Waters (“lovely” is an understatement for this truly amazing, quirky, kind-hearted woman!) I first got to know Michelle back in March, when Isabella bid on Thirst Relief’s mentor auctions for WPPI (check out our post “Quenching Thirst In The Desert” for pictures from another Thirst Relief auction – first annual Thirst Relief Benefit Shoot in Las Vegas). Michelle was so nice to include both of us in the mentor session (and treated us to a very yummy meal too!), and kindly invited me to go second-shoot a wedding with her this year — This was something I didn’t expect and so my heart was overflown with joy and excitement!!! Together with Henry and Isabella, we made it a fun work+play trip. After shooting the wedding, the three of us continued on a road trip that span from WV, PA, MD, to DC. =)
One of the highlights during the trip was watching the July 4th fireworks at the three rivers regatta in Pittsburgh. But the major highlight for me, of course, was the wedding itself. =D It is also the first wedding I’ve been to that had sparklers for the grand exit (these are so pretty and fun!). So, while I am organizing the rest of the images from the wedding, here is a preview picture that’s full of sparkles:

After much anticipated excitement, the big day finally came last weekend — Marie and Andy got married at the beautiful Rose Garden in Cal Poly!
We started off with some couple and wedding party portraits at the nearby Japanese Garden:

I love this bouquet by Wen Floral Design Studio. An elegant combination of ivory-colored ribbons, pearls, and pink roses.

With Maid of Honor Connie :)

Shortly after, the ceremony began at the Rose Garden.
This is the part where I always get a bit emotional and teary-eyed… when the bride and her father is about to walk down the aisle.

They had Star Wars music for the recessional. How cool is that?!

A couple more portraits after the ceremony:

After that, we headed over to East 180 restaurant in Diamond Bar for evening reception.

There were a lot of beautiful details, from the sign-in table displays, dinner table settings, to the cute whimsical cake topper. The favor boxes, which the couple and their friends made themselves, also sport a flower-petal theme! :)

Cherry Blossom! I had wanted this for my own wedding!! I just adore this feminine and elegant look.

Love this little series:

It was a festive evening with lots of entertainment lined up.

And Marie’s brother hijacked DJ JoJo’s station for just a short moment. I think he looks very sleek here :)

Thank you Marie & Andy, for allowing us to take part of your wedding! It was beautiful, romantic, and filled with joy and laughter. What a perfect way to start your new life together! :)
A special thanks also, to my 2nd shooter this time, Nick Yutaka. We enjoyed having such a talented photographer shooting with us. Thanks Nick for all your help!
